Laser dentistry provides minimally invasive options that can be alternatives to long and complicated surgical procedures. Lasers are used in a variety of dental procedures, such as crown lengthening and treatment of gum disease. Laser treatment typically results in less swelling, discomfort and recovery time. Because lasers can target a specific area without disturbing the surrounding tissues, bleeding is well controlled and sutures (stitches) are usually not needed. In fact, some lasers have been shown to actually stimulate the regrowth and reattachment of tissue to the teeth. The lasers that Dr. Towe uses are all FDA- approved.
